About the NBCC

The voice of business

The first initiatives to the establishment of the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) were taken in London in 1891 and today the NBCC is a fully independent bi-lateral commercial membership organization with members and clients in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and some third countries.

It is the leading organisation for British-Dutch businesses. The activities are organised around 4 main pillars: sharing information, representation, making connections and introductions and tailor made services. Activities vary from trade missions to seminars and a large variety of small and large scale networking.

The Climate Envoy of the Netherlands Jaime de Bourbon de Parma

Part of the ‘Solving Global Challenges Together’ campaign of the NL Business Hub Network

This week's changemaker has a long career of accelerating the action needed to create a just and green world. We are proud to introduce to you our changemaker: His Royal Highness Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Climate Envoy of The Netherlands.

‘When I worked in conflict resolution and critical materials, I realised that both have a lot to do with climate change. The theme always came back again and that is why I decided to shift my focus to this biggest challenge of our time.’

Jaime doesn't just talk the talk; he walks the walk. Beyond his official duties, Jaime is a model of sustainable living. He opts for eco-friendly transportation and is conscious of his consumption habits, reflecting a genuine commitment to the environment.

One of his notable contributions is his involvement in Eastern Congo, where he facilitated collaboration between local communities and international businesses. Through this initiative Jaime helped make sure that the minerals we use every day are obtained in a way that's fair and doesn't harm the planet.

Furthermore, Jaime also started a project that gives clean energy to people who really need it. ‘I am proud to have set up the clean energy challenge, in which we brought environmentally friendly and safe energy both to the UNHCR and to refugees, so that they can become more self-reliant and adapt to climate change.’

Our changemaker is a firm believer in the collective power of individual actions. Jaime often cites the Netherlands' significant adoption of solar energy as evidence that individual and community choices can drive substantial change. He therefore welcomes the global campaign “Solving global challenges together” of the NL Business Hub Network, as he sees an important role for business in fighting the climate crisis.

While being an inspiration himself, Jaime gets his inspiration from the words of Andrew Steer, a big supporter of helping the planet: "Your worry shows you care and pushes you to do better."

Jaime's dedication and passion remind us that every action counts and that together, we can shape a brighter future for our planet. Thank you, Jaime, for showing us the way!
